I did my best while on my lunch hour to catch what I could capture, which wasn’t easy as the show was very busy and bustling!
It’s hard to say which was my favorite – I loved them all! There were appliques distinctively 1930s era. There was piecing, both planned and scrappy-
There were time honored patterns, and some that looked completely modern in their design.
There was functional basic hand quilting, and some with feathers, plumes and wreaths artistically executed, capturing the breath and wonder of passers by as they browsed.
There are many wonderful quilts in the show, but this exhibit by far is so inspiring.
I wonder if the quilters from 70 to 90 years ago would have ever imagined that their quilts would be hanging here as part of this wonderful collection in this day and age, on view for all to see and enjoy.
Love Love Love!
Love Up Close!
I was unable to take the time to get photos of each and every placard. The place was busy busy, and most of the cards said things like “quilter unknown”. Please enjoy the photos for their beauty and color and quilting texture bringing back the flavor of days long gone….
